in2Dredging is proud to be presenting at the Mineral Sands Technical Conference 2026. The conference is hosted by The Ceylon Chamber of Commerce in partnership with Mineral Technologies Australia on 17 June 2026 in Colombo, Sri Lanka.

Shaping the Future of the Industry

Bringing together policymakers, technical specialists and global industry leaders, the Mineral Sands Technical Conference 2026 will explore the future of the mineral sands industry within a competitive and sustainable global market.

Worldwide demand for mineral sands continues to rise across construction, manufacturing and advanced technologies. In response, the conference will focus on unlocking long-term value through improved technical capability, investment readiness and sustainable development practices. Discussions will span the full mineral sands value chain, including exploration, mining, dredging and processing. Additional topics will include Environmental Social Governance (ESG), environmental management and market trends.

i2D Experts Taking the Stage

Representing in2Dredging Pty Ltd (i2D) at the conference will be Simon Burgmans and Shameeka Nanayakkara. Their technical presentations will focus on improving efficiency, sustainability and operational performance within mineral sands developments.

Simon is the founder of i2D and Principal Dredging Engineer. He has over 20 years of international experience across the dredging, mineral sands, mining and offshore industries. Furthermore, he is recognised for delivering practical and commercially focused engineering solutions for complex marine projects worldwide.

Shameeka is a Sri Lankan Senior Dredging Engineer at i2D with extensive experience across marine infrastructure, dredging and offshore projects. Her expertise includes hydraulic transport, estimating and technical reporting, supporting improved operational efficiency across international projects.

Building Better Mineral Sands Projects from the Ground Up

Simon’s Site Investigation and Resource Characterisation presentation will highlight the importance of integrated geotechnical investigations, geological modelling and material characterisation. The presentation will demonstrate how these approaches can improve mine planning, reduce project uncertainty and support more efficient dredging operations. Drawing on international dredging and offshore project experience, Simon will discuss the importance of quality site investigation data. He will demonstrate how accurate ground data supports successful project outcomes.

Optimising Mineral Sands Mining Through Hydraulic Transport

Shameeka’s Dredging and Hydraulic Transport presentation explores dredging as an integrated excavation and hydraulic transport system for mineral sands mining. Topics will include slurry transport efficiency, water management and system optimisation. The presentation will also examine economic advantages of hydraulic mining methods for both established and emerging mineral sands operations.

Supporting the Future of Mineral Sands Developments

The Mineral Sands Technical Conference 2026 will provide an important platform for industry collaboration and knowledge sharing. The event will connect technical experts, mining professionals and decision-makers focused on the future of the mineral sands sector.

i2D has extensive experience across international dredging, offshore wind, marine infrastructure, environmental management and mineral sands developments. Through this experience, i2D continues to support innovative, practical and sustainable engineering solutions for the global resources industry.

As the industry evolves, i2D looks forward to meeting delegates in Colombo and contributing to the industry’s future development.
